If it was stuck to the cover, smear gasket sealant along the cover flange and upper gasket and leave it to dry for a few minutes.

Proper techniques and diligence during oil seal installation will result in what seems like an unremarkable situation – a component holding its lubrication. When something you’ve installed works effectively and quietly, you know you’ve done it right.

Temperature - Just like pressure, the temperature that your oil seal will be operating in must be known so that you can choose one that can withstand the heat or cold. PTFE have the widest range of temperature, making them useful for machines who can see usage in extreme weather or elements.
Areas of application of this rubber are suggested by its outstanding temperature resistance (-55 °C to +200 °C), although this must not be applied to hot water or steam. Although silicone rubber almost matches NBR in oil resistance, it does not match the latter's physical and mechanical properties.
Usually, these oil seals are used to seal lubricating oil or grease and contain it within the application, so that moving parts such as bearings are continually supplied with enough lubrication. However, such seals are also used for sealing other liquids, gases, and solids, such as powders or granules.
The metal used in the outer case of oil seals is usually made of carbon steel. Upon request, and depending on quantities, a different type of steel (such as stainless steel) can be used.
In terms of size, oil seals are available in a wide range of dimensions to suit different shaft diameters and housing sizes. It is crucial to select the correct size seal to ensure a proper fit, as using an improperly sized seal can lead to leaks and premature wear.
